Mr. R.G. Whitaker, age 85 of Crab Orchard, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 at his home. He was born in Rockcastle County on Feb. 22, 1927 the son of Robert Smith Whitaker and Millie Jane McPherron Whitaker. He was a retired employee of Cumberland Wooden Chair Co. and a farmer and was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ.
He is survived by his sons, Jim Whitaker and wife Marcella of Crab Orchard, and Dale Whitaker and wife Pam of Eubank; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and special nieces and nephew, Doris Sowder of Mt. Vernon, Wilma Spoonamore of Lockland, OH, and Floyd T. Payne of Pisgah, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Whitaker; and 6 sisters, Leona Stevens, Deva McClure, Melvina Payne, Martha Davidson, Elsie Whitaker, and Fannie Whitaker.
