Born in Philadelphia, Bob was a Lawrenceville, New Jersey resident most of his life.

Bob graduated form Trenton Central High School in 1939 and from Rutgers University in 1943 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry. Bob earned his Masters degree in Public Health in 1961 from Columbia University.

Bob was an Army World War II veteran having served in France and Germany in the 275th Infantry of the 70th Division and was the recipient of the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Bronze Star Medal for action during the battles of the Rhineland, Saarbruken and the reduction of the Saar Basin.

Bob was a Boy Scout for 80 years and served as a youth and adult leader. He served as the Boy Scout's representative on the McGregor Arctic Expedition to Greenland from 1937 to 1938. He was an Eagle Scout and was awarded the Silver Beaver for distinguished service to scouting.

Bob worked for the State of New Jersey Department of Health. He started his career as a dairy farm inspector in 1946 and retired as the Assistant Director of Consumer Health Services in 1985. During his 39 years of public service Bob also served for 10 years as the Health Officer for Lawrence Township.

Bob was a member of the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder and the representative between Boy Scout Troup #28 and the church.

Bob was a member and past Master of Lawrenceville Grange #170. He was a member of American Legion Post #414 for over 50 years.
