Alfred Frank Close

Alfred Frank Close, 58, of 29 First St., Galeton died at the Robert Packer Hospital, in Sayre, Friday, February 25, 1955. He had been admitted to the hospital on Monday for observation and treatment.
He was born at Corbectt, Potter County, June 17, 1896, a son of Mrs. Angeline Close and the late Tom Close. He attended schools at Corbett and Galeton.
In early life, Mr. Close became an employee of the Buffalo and Susquehanna Railroad and had continued his work when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad purchased the Buffalo and Susquehanna Railroad. He was car inspector for the railroad.
During World War 1, Mr. Close served with the United States Army. He was a communicant of St. Bibiana's Catholic Church and held membership in the Knights of Columbus, Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen, Octagon Post, Na. 291, and the Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rose Close, one daughter, Mrs. Angeline James, of Wellsboro; four sons, Charles, of Corning, N. Y., George of Rochester, N. Y., Tom and James, at home; his aged mother, Mrs. Angeline Close, Galeton, three sisters, Mrs. Kate Letrenta, Buffalo, N. Y., Mrs. Daisy Caracciolo, and Mrs. Margaret Lollo, both of Galeton; five brothers, William of Bethlehem; Daniel, of Charleston, South Carolina; Joseph A., Albeit A. and Benjamin, all of Galeton; five grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at the family home at 7 o'clock, Monday evening. Funeral services were held at St. Bibiana's Catholic Church. Tuesday morning, with the Rev. Anthony F.
Robaczewski officiating. Interment was made in West Hill Cemetery. Members of Galeton's National Champion Drill Team were pall bearers.
