He was united in marriage to Sarah Anna Ingram on Sept. 25,
1849. To this union 11 children were born.
All preceded him in death except one son W.D. Bowling, living 1 and one half miles west of Valley City, two daughters, Mrs Mary Tuttle of Illinois, and Mrs Florence Blake of Valley City.
He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great, grandchildren.
At the age of 19 he united with the Baptist Church in Camel County, Tenn. and in later years, he and his wife united with the Christian Church in Valley City.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Valley City Christian Church, conducted by Pastor, Rev.O.K. Posey.
Interment in Baldwin Cemetery.
