WESTPORT…Burton L. Stockwell, 66, died Friday, October 31, 2008 at home. He was the husband of Theresa (Vanasse) Stockwell, this month they would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
Born in Pontiac, Michigan son of the late Jack E. and Phyllis J. (Knibbs) Stockwell he had been a resident of Westport since 1990. Mr. Stockwell had been employed in the Engineering Dept. for Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River and Women and Infants Hospital, Providence, prior to that he had worked at Raytheon in Dighton.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport. He had been an E.M.T. and volunteer fireman in Michigan and was a member of the American Legion, Swansea Post #0303 and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus Council #4753 of Tiverton. Mr. Stockwell was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy where he retired as a Staff Sgt. From the 483 battalion of New Bedford.
His joy in life was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
