Marcus Reed Toone Wilde, 93, passed away Saturday, July 22, 1995, in Ogden, Utah, of causes incident to age.

He was born January 4, 1902, in Croydon, Utah, a son of Edwin Albert and Hannah Elizabeth Toone Wilde.

He attended grammar school in Croydon and graduated from Morgan High School, where he participated in musicals and other activities. He fulfilled an LDS mission in the Southern States Mission, serving in North Carolina under President Charles A. Callus.

He married Valliere Chappell on February 23, 1927, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died June 23, 1970, after she spent her entire married life devoted to her husband and their family.

He was a prominent sheep and cattle rancher in Utah and Wyoming, and a lifelong resident of Croydon, Morgan County, Utah. Reed dearly loved his home range in the scenic Lost Creek mountains. He served in the Croydon Ward Bishopric for eight years.

Surviving are five sons, Marcus Reed (Camille), Albert (Eutona), Jon Chappell (RaNae), David Chappell (Margo), Robert Edwin (Linda); and a daughter-in-law, Nila Rae Edwards Wilde. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Theron William Wilde; a grandson, Troy Jon Wilde; one brother, L.D. Wilde; a foster brother, Walter Chester Beery; three sisters, Marie Beery, Althea Branch, Elizabeth (Bessie) Robinson; and a foster sister, Echo Beery Boyce.

The family wishes to thank Bill Norseth, a devoted friend who helped so much, and express appreciation to those who cared for him at Mt. Ogden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the Morgan Stake Center. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Croydon Cemetery.
