John L. was the son of John and Evanna King Warmcastle and the brother to Judge and California State Senator Francis Marion Warmcastle (Contra Costa county CA.) He was a musician in the war of the Rebellion from Aug. 1862 - June 1863, Co. F. 137th Pa. Inf. Pvt. In 1892, he was a resident of Siskiyou county CA. But returned to Pennsylvania by 1900.
