Clyde A. DeLong, age 88 of Plum City, formerly of Rock Elm, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.

Clyde was born on April 12, 1924. He was the son of Charles and Florence (Maxwell) DeLong. He grew up in the Eau Galle area and attended Eau Galle School. After school he farmed for short while. Clyde married Bernadine Fischer on January 10, 1946 in St. Paul. After marriage they lived in South St. Paul, MN for a several years and Clyde worked at the McDonald's Volkswagen Dealership in Inver Grove Heights as a mechanic for over 20 years. In 1957, they moved to the Rock Elm Area where he continued work at the dealership and raise his family. For the last 18 years, Clyde lived in the Plum City area. Clyde has been a resident of the Plum City Care Center for the last 3 years.

Clyde enjoyed going to auctions and antiquing, buying old items, restoring them and selling them. He bought cars, fixed them up and sold them. Clyde loved the outdoors especially deer and squirrel hunting. Most of all, he loved to spend time with family and friends.

Clyde is survived by three sons; Ronald (Charlotte) of Eau Galle, Donald (Michelle) of Forney, TX, and Dean (Sherry) of Eau Galle, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Bernadine, five brothers; Neil, Gerald, Floyd, Harrison and Donald seven sisters; Eva Lafferty, Verna Bowen, Jessie Snyder, Bessie Van Nortwick, Vern Bowen, Gladys Bundy and Leona Barnes.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Rock Elm United Methodist Church in rural Elmwood. Rev. Charles DeMaris and Chaplin Debra Raasch will officiate. Burial will be in the Rock Elm Cemetery, rural Elmwood. Friends may call one hour prior to services and the church on Friday.
