Aaron passed away at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. He was survived by parents Phillip and Rachel Benavidez of Hernandez; brother Phillip Jr.; grandparents Lee & Jackie Quintana of Hernandez and Bonifacio & Rose Benavidez of Rio Chama; great-grandmothers Lydia Maestas of Hernandez, Porfida Benavidez of Santa Cruz, and Emilia Quintana of Alcalde; and many other relatives.

Funeral services were on June 5th in the San Jose Church in Hernandez. Pallbearers: Daniel Trujillo, Lee Quintana Jr., Rick Chavez, and George Benavidez. Honorary pallbearers: Frankie Montoya Jr., Kimberly Romero, Alberta Trujillo, and Esperanza Crowder.
