He was a native of Ville Platte and a resident of Oakdale. He owned and operated Bert's Plumbing. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Assembly Father Shahrigian 2182, and he was awarded the Companions of Honor Devoted Service Medal by the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mildred L. Andrus of Oakdale; two sons and spouses, Bert Homer and Linda Andrus II of Middletown, Del., and Blane H. and Lydia Andrus of Dallas; three daughters and spouses, Cheryl and Charles Rodriguez of Fred, Texas, Connie and Shirley Ware of Sulphur, and Sandra and Roger LeBlanc of Lake Charles; one brother, Bob Andrus of Oakdale; two sisters, Eleanor White of Bunkie and Betty Ruth Andrews of Jena; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Fred Russi will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home. Visitation is 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
