Mrs. Artemas Hoag
Died at her home in this village, Monday morning, age 72 years. The funeral is held today, from the house at 12 o'clock and services at the Bailey church at 2 o'clock. Rev. J. T. Husted of Grand Rapids will officiate, subject "Motherhood".
Mary Ann Hoag was born in Wagner Co., N.Y. in 1822 and was married to Artemas Hoag, at Ypsilanti, Mich., Feb. 22nd 1844. They came to Vergennes taking up from the Government the farm on which they spent forty-four years of their life, coming to this village in 1888. He beloved husband died in May 1889. She has bourne six children only three of whom, Mrs. W.H. Hall. Grand Ledge, Mrs. Orton Hill of this village and Edwin Hoag of Vergennes survive her. She was a kind and loving mother, a faithful friend, a good neighbor, and true christian woman.
