DR. EL ANDRE BAUDE

Dr. Eugene Louis Baude, 81, 1815 Westwood Circle, died Monday, Jan 2, at a Topeka Hospital.

Dr. Baude practiced medicine at Chatteau Thierry, France until he was captured by the German Army during WWII while serving in French Army.

He moved to the United States in September 1940 after he escaped from the Germans and Lectured on European Politics in the U.S for a year.

Dr. Baude served his internship at Waltham, Mass. hospital and was later appointed Superintendent at the Norton, Kansas Sanitorium. He moved to Topeka in 1948.

He practiced internal medicine and specialized in pulmonary diseases in Topeka and also was a consultant for the Kansas Board of Health, Topeka State Hospital, Santa Fe Hospital, and Topeka Veterans Administration Hospital, all in Topeka. He also was a consultant for the Topeka-Shawnee County Heath Department as a chest specialist.

Dr. Baude retired in July 1975 and continued as a consultant for the Topeka-Shawnee Health Department until 1978.

He was born Dec. 09, 1902 at Coincy, France, the son of Eugene and Helene Baude. He was graduated June 27, 1927 with a medical degree from the Academie of Paris.

Dr. Baude was a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Academy of Tuberculosis Physicians, Shawnee County Medical Society, Kansas Medical Association and American Medical Association. He was a 50 year member of the American Medicine Club.

His first wife, Mrs. Jane Baude, died in 1970. He was married to Catherine Osbourn in Feb 1979, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include Mme. Gabotte Nydam-Baude, Marseilles, France; two sons, Richard Baude, Bethel Island, Calif.,and Patrick Baude, Bloomington Indiana; four step daughters, Mrs. Janice Speicher, Salt Lake City and Judy and Sue Osbourne, both of Topeka; Nine grandchildren; five step grand children; and five-great grandchildren.

Services will be at 3:00 PM. at Penwell-Gabell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
