Services for Chester J. Mnick, 68, of 1113 Avery Ave., who died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital after an apparent heart attack, will be at 9 am Friday at the Bordynski-Hollis Funeral Home and 9:45 am in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 pm today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Thursday at the funeral home, 1105 W. Genesee St.

A native of Syracuse, Mnick worked 30 years as a yard engineer for Crucible Steel Co.

Mnick was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Holy Name Society. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 6282, Stanley Pennock Post VFW 2893 and the Geddes Veterans of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, the former Ethel Alexander; a son, Charles of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Breese (Helen) of North Syracuse and Mrs. William Kurgan (Jane) of LaFayette; and a grandson.

Contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Church renovation fund.

Chester was the son of Casimir and Catherine Mnick of Syracuse, both deceased. He was also predeceased by his brother Felix Mnick.
