Ray C. Long, of 1140 Sixth street, Marion, died Saturday at a Cedar Rapids hospital following a long illness. Formerly of Cedar Rapids, he had lived in Marion the last 30 years.
Born Sept. 4, 1905, in Marshall county, he was married to Nellie Bargin July 2, 1928, at Cedar Rapids. He was owner and operator of Ray's Brake and Alignment service and previously had operated Ray's Skelly service in Marion. Mr. Long was a member of the Trojan Masonic lodge No. 548 and the Independent Garage Operators Assn.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughter, Shirley Collins, Hiawatha; and Bonnie Freeman, Cedar Rapids; a son, Ray W. Long, Marion; three sisters, Wilma Evans, Greenville, S.C.; Elnora Baxter, Emmetsburg, Iowa; and Hazel McDonnell, Mesa, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. John D. Green of Toddville Free Methodist church. Burial: Cedar Memorial cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Monday and at the Chapel of Memories after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
