Ann Elizabeth "Bettie" Matkin married William Clark 11 Apr 1870 in Huntsville, Madison Co., AL (see Madison Co., AL marriage book Vol. 5 p. 911) and moved to Memphis by 1872. She was the daughter of William M. Matkin and 1st wife, Margaret McDonnell, (see 1850 & 1860 Madison Co, AL Censuses) Her father married 2nd Mrs. Margaret A. DeWoody Tate in 1850. Betty(sic) Clark was listed in several Chancery court actions on her uncle's estate, Ezekiel Washington Matkin (1816 - 1862), who died intestate, as one of several heirs after her father, William's death in 1872.
