William Henry McCaig was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Cleburne, Texas to the home of Roy Luther and Rosa Mae Miller McCaig. In September 1942, he married Aline Cook in Duncan, Oklahoma. In January 1943, he enlisted into the United States Army, serving until January 1946. While in the army, he was awarded World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon and two Bronze Service Stars.
He and his family have lived in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico before returning to Duncan, Oklahoma where he was employed at Western Welding Supply for 25 years. After retirement, he enjoyed mowing and maintaining several yards in Duncan.
He served as a deacon for several years in New Mexico and Oklahoma. He was a member of New Hope West Baptist Church in Duncan.
He is survived by three sons, Jimmy Don and wife, Nona McCaig, of Arkansas, Carroll Wayne and wife, Linda McCaig, of Oklahoma, and Luther Birl and wife, Zee McCaig, of Utah. He is survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Adams, of Kansas, and Ada Mae Duesman, of Duncan. He is also survived by several neices and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Aline Cook Craig, who died in September 2005; one grandson, Jeffrey McCaig; five brothers, Arthur, Herman, Luther, Buford and Clinton; and two sisters, Rena McCaig and Mildred Shipman.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at New Hope West Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Couch officiating and the Rev. Randy Southerland assisting.
Visitiation will be at Carter Smart Funeral Home with family visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Wayne McCaig, Shawn Michael McCaig, Tracey McCaig, David McCaig, James Cookand Quinton Fixico.
