Mary Taylor Atkins, age 101, formerly of Green. Bay, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012. She was born in Whittle's Depot near Gretna, Virginia on July 20, 1910. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Earnie R. Atkins, after 66 years of marriage. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary was a member of Liberty Christian Church in Green Bay. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce A. Nunnally of Meherrin, Virginia and Janice A. Mottley and her husband, Robert, of Burkeville, Virginia; four grandchildren, Graham Nunnally and wife, Linda, Richard Nunnally and his wife, Melissa; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the Liberty Christian Church in Green Bay. Interment followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Liberty Christian Church Cemetery Fund, Meherrin Volunteer Fire and Rescue, or Burkeville Fire Department. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, Virginia was in charge of the arrangements.
