Elijah Wilbur "Little" Griffin, 85, of Warsaw, Ill., died at 2:17 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Keokuk Area Hospital.

Born Jan. 21, 1927, in Warsaw, he was the son of Wilbur Lee and Anna Schmitt Griffin. On Jan. 21, 1950, he married Naomi M. Hoener in Keokuk. She preceded him in death July 11, 2012.

Mr. Griffin was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the European Theater. He worked at Hubinger Co. (Roquette America) for 38 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Grain Millers Local 48, Warsaw VFW Post and Ralph Parker American Legion Post, having served as commander and participated in Honor Guard for many military services. He attended Warsaw schools and was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed music, playing guitar, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Harley Griffin of Keokuk and Dennis Griffin of Warsaw; one daughter, Teresa Brown of Quincy, Ill.; three sisters, Wahneta Buckert, Patty Runge and Brenda Avery, all of Warsaw; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
