Civil War veteran, Company G, 2nd Minnesota Cavalry; member Sickles Post #57, Grand Army of the Republic, at Vashon, Washington. Some sources give his date of birth as May 27, 1821. He was enumerated in the 1885 census of Vashon Island with his wife Phoeba; she predeceased him in 1895 and is buried in a single grave on Vashon Island. At the time of his death he was residing with his son.
