Mr. D.R. "Dick" Gaines, son of the late Jeddie Gaines and Tommie White Gaines, was born 1 Feb 1886 in Green Co., Ky. and departed this life 30 Oct 1976 at the Green Hill Manor Nursing Home. He was 90 years, 8 months and 29 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church at the time of his death. Mr. Gaines was united in marriage on 14 Sept 1911 to Lizzie Hatcher, who survives. Also surviving are 4 nieces and 1 nephew: Mrs. Tommie Marshal, Campbellsville, Ky; Mrs. Lena Osborne, Columbia, Ky; Mrs. Agnes Smith, Mo; Mrs. Christine McGeath, Ill; and John Richard Coffer. A host of other relatives and friends survive. The remains were at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home where funeral services were conducted at 1 pm Mon. 1 Nov 1976 with burial in the Gaines Cem. Rev. James Evans officiated. Pallbearers were: James Givens, David Givens, Edwin Hayes, Morris Givens, Buford Givens, James L. Durham.
