Maria Henrietta (Uefers) Helmers – January 15, 1868 – December 31, 1950

RITES AT ROCKFORD FOR AGED RESIDENT

Charles City – Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Henrietta Uefers Helmers, 83, were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Grossmann's Funeral Home at Rockford, the Rev. Walter M. Fritschel, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Charles City, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Rockford.

Mrs. Helmers was born January 15, 1868 in Germany. She was married May 7, 1892, to Peter J. Helmers and they came to the United States in 1893. They first lived at Aplington, Cutler County, and in 1915 moved to Floyd County, two miles south of Rudd. In 1928 they moved two miles east of Nora Springs and later to Rockford.

Survivors include 3 daughters; Mrs. Carl Kobernus, New Richland, Minnesota; Mrs. Harkie Boeleman, Albert Lea, Minnesota; Mrs. Virgil Blunt, Miles City, Montana; 3 sons; Henry Elmers of Rudd; Edwin Helmers, Charles City; and John J. Helmers, Algona; also 29 grandchildren.
A sister and a brother in Germany also survive.
