Thomas Briggs Thomas David Briggs, 65, of Fort Collins died Sunday, April 24, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins of kidney cancer. He was born Oct. 28, 1939, in Cripple Creek to Morris and Lorna Dolan. He grew up on a farm near Milliken and graduated from Milliken High School in 1957. A veteran of the Navy, Mr. Briggs was involved in the Berlin Airlift. He worked for many years at Beech Aircraft and Ball Aerospace in Boulder and was part of the Apollo program from its inception. He said one of the proudest achievements of his life was the part he played in helping the Apollo 13 spacecraft return safely to earth. He and his wife, Vivian, opened a Southwestern gift shop, "Visions," in 1994 in Lyons when he retired from Ball. Three years ago he became a "candyman," when he opened Visions Fudge Shop next door to the gift shop. He was a man of great intellect, droll wit and loving kindness.
Survivors are his wife of 27 years, Vivian Briggs;
his children, Lisa Napier and Lee Briggs, both of Alexandria, Va.;
his stepchildren, Ford Williams and wife Lorie of Silverthorne, Kevin Williams and wife Hope of Arvada, Ginger Raper of Louisville;
and 13 grandchildren, Alden Briggs, Dolan Napier, Rowan Napier, George Briggs, twins Dustin and David Waddel, Lacie Williams, Blake Daughton, Brysen Daughton, Britney Daughton, Kanyon Raper, Zachary Williams and Amelia Williams. Also surviving are a sister, Barbara Miercort of Dallas; and a half-brother, James Briggs of Stanford, Texas; and many nephews and nieces.

His father, Morris Dolan; his adoptive father, Lee W. Briggs; and his mother, Lorna Leitschuck, are deceased.

Thomas David Briggs died April 24, 2005, of kidney cancer.

Tom was a man of great intellect, droll wit and loving kindness. He will be missed greatly.
