OBITUARY William J. Clancy, 88, entered into eternal rest on Thursday May 20, 2010, at the Community Medical Center, Toms River, N.J. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at 8:45 a.m., from the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave., Clark, N.J., thence to St. Agnes R.C. Church, Clark, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:45 a.m. Interment is in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. To offer condolences, please visit www.krowickigorny.com. Born in Jersey City , N.J., Mr. Clancy lived in Clark for 35 years and had since resided in Toms River. He worked as a chauffeur to the CEO of Union Camp Corporation of Wayne for 20 years. He also owned a tavern in Rahway, N.J., and worked on the Union County Regional Board of Education before retiring in 1990. Mr. Clancy honorably served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He was a past faithful navigator and 4th Degree member of the John P. Washington Chapter of the Knights of Columbus of Rahway. Mr. Clancy was a past president of the Clark Democratic Committee and member of the Special Police of Clark for many years, as well as a member of the Old Guard of Toms River. He was also a past Eucharistic minister and member of the Holy Name Society at St. Agnes Church in Clark. He was the beloved husband for 52 years of the late Catherine (Mooney) (1998); loving father of Patty Clancy of Denville, N.J., Bill Clancy of Rahway and the late Kathleen Clancy Smith (2004); cherished grandfather of Ian Smith, Katie and Annie Clancy. In lieu of flowers, kindly offer donations in his name to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301.
