"That in July 1776 he was drafted at York County PA for two months was attached to the Company of Capt Irvin and marched to Philadelphia hence through Quakers and Elizabethtown to Bergen Point. There having completed his term of two months he enlisted as a private in Capt Christian Stake's Company of Col. Michael Swope's Battalion of the Penn Flying Camp. Then under the command of Gen Ewing, for eight months ; from Bergen Point he marched to Ft Lee and was there Stationed until after the capture of Fort Washington near Fort Lee. (The greater part of his company, to which be belonged, being at FT Washington when this Fort was taken were made into prisoners) Declarant with the main troops then retreated into New Jersey and was at Trenton at the capture of the body of Hessians. He remained at Trenton until his expiration of his term of eight months from his enlistment and was then discharged.

As a subsequent pensioner of this War he is not able to recollect the times he was again drafted at York Co PA for two months was stationed at Philadelphia. Served as one of the guards during the sessions of the Congress. The declarant had no evidence of his service and knows no means of procuring any except that which is herein enclosed . He was born in York County PA in February of 1757. Has no record of his age. He lived at York Co PA for several years after the Revolutionary War. Then in Fayette Co PA and for sixteen years last part in Salt Creek Twp in said County of Muskingum."
