Richard F. Wichman, 90, rural Defiance, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 in Laurels of Defiance.
He was born April 8, 1912, in Defiance County's South Richland Township, the son of Fred and Sophia (Bunke) Wichman. In 1938, he married Hope Brubaker, who survives. He was a farmer, an employee at Johns Manville Corp. for 18 years and a member of St.John Lutheran Church and Johns Manville Retirees.
Also surviving are a son, Allen, Defiance; two daughter, Mrs. Jim (Joan) Hammersmith and Mrs. John (Leann) Schwab, both of Defiance; a brother, Fred, Defiance; two sisters, Emma Smith and Luella Relyea, both of Defiance; and 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Harold, Alvin and Ted; and three sisters, Margaret Pracht, and Clara and Naomi, in infancy.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens. Visitations from 2-9 p.m. Sunday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church.
