Lonnie Eakins was born February 16, 1904 in Day County, Oklahoma Territory to Annis and John Creech and passed away August 9, 1998 in her home at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 23 days.
She was born on the farm in the Bellview community north of the Antelope Hills, where she lived and raised her family. She attended the Bellview School. She married Bernard Lee Eakins, on March 23, 1922 in Durham, Oklahoma. She made her profession of faith and was baptized into the Magnolia Baptist Church at Crawford, Oklahoma in the early 1950's where she was a member until they moved to Cheyenne in 1975.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, J.B.
She is survived by 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Gene and Jean Eakins of Kansas City, MO, Bruce and Linda Eakins of Cheyenne, OK, Suzie and Garry Lowrance of Oklahoma City, OK, Charles Gilliland of Orando, FL; 8 great grandchildren, Amy and Ray Haven of Cheyenne, OK, Nikki and Lindsay Eakins of Kansas City, MO, Justin and Deidre Eakins of Clinton, OK, Angie Gilliland of Orlando, FL, Brandy Conley and Ryan Lowrance of Oklahoma City, OK, Renae Lowrance of Edmond, OK; 3 great great grandchildren, Bray, Joshua and Sarah Elizabeth Haven; 3 sisters, Marge Wagnon of Woodward, OK, Winnie Hatton of Paso Robles, CA, Pauline Sasser of Canon City, CO; 1 daughter-in-law, Donnie Eakins of Cheyenne, OK; host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 11, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. in Magnolia First Baptist Church, with A.L. Martin and Karen Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Bellview Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne.
Pallbearers were: Ray Haven, Bob Barton, Gene Eakins, Bruce Eakins, Justin Eakins, Garry Lowance.
