Crossville Chronicle October 16, 1930

Martin Alexander Brown, "Uncle Alex" as he was known to his neighbors, passed away quietly in his sleep Friday morning, October 10th. He had apparently been in the best of health the day before and had seemed unusually well and full of life the past few weeks. In spite of his 82 years, he made a fine garden this summer which he delighted to show to folks who came along.
Mr. Brown was born in Overton county April 22, 1848 and lived there as a farmer until he came to Pleasant Hill some 18 years ago. He was the youngest in a family of 16 and the last survivor of the family. He had married twice (first to Alima C West who is buried at Okalona Cemetery in Overton), and was the father of 4 sons: Marvin, a merchant in Overton county; Colbert, deceased; Edwin of Cassville and Otto of Cleveland, Ohio. His widow, the former Miss Lee Deck, also survives.
