Billy B. Grizzard, 75, a lifelong Fort Worth resident, died Sunday in a Fort Worth hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Lucas Funeral Home on Brentwood Stair Road.

Grizzard, who lived at 5222 Meadowbrook Drive, served as a major in the U.S. Army during World War II. He helped organize and operate the Japanese railway system in the postwar era. After returning to Fort Worth in 1946, Grizzard worked at the Ben E. Keith Co. until his retirement in 1972 as senior vice president.

He was active in numerous service organizations, serving in United Way campaigns, as well as being an active member of the Rotary Club of East Fort Worth since 1969. He also was a member of the Upper Room Class of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy C. Grizzard; a son, Dr. Michael B. Grizzard of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a brother, Col. H. M. Grizzard of Claremont, Calif.
