FUNERAL HELD FOR WILLIAM E. YARNES

Funeral services were held on Wednesday for William Edward Yarnes, 82, a longtime resident of Amity who died on Monday.

Services were held at the Chapel of Macy and Son of McMinnville, with Rev. R. H. Burke, pastor of the Amity Baptist church officiating. Interment was at the Amity cemetery with graveside services directed by the Oddfellow lodge of Albany.

Pallbearers were Robert Rosenbalm, Ernie Gibbs, Arthur Blandon, Glenn Weston, Ralph Wood and Jack Stafford, all of the Amity Oddfellow Lodge No. 67.

Yarnes was born on November 18, 1877 at Spring Valley, Minn.., the son of Edward and Harriet Yarnes. He received his early schooling in Wycoff, Minn. and completed his education after moving to Amity with his parents.

He was married in September 1901 to Mamie Annette Mahood at Amity and engaged in farming in the Amity area until 1936 when Mr. and Mrs. Yarnes established residence in Amity where he was employed by the Amity Cooperative Nut Association until his retirement in 1955.

Yarnes became a member of the Amity IOOF Lodge on February 22, 1908 and later served as noble grand. He was also a past chief patriarch of the encampment, a member of Industry Rebekah Lodge No. 95 and a former member of the Woodmen of the World.

Since 1955, Yarnes made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ethel Bowen of 1109 Jellison, until his last illness when he was a patient at the Faith House convalescent home.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Bowen of Amity, a son William E. Yarnes, Jr. of Seattle, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
