Joseph O'Daniel married first to Nora L. Clements, daughter of Len Clements, in Marion County, Kentucky on December 27, 1897. Their marriage license can be viewed in the Marion County Clerk's Office in Lebanon, Kentucky in the Colored marriage Book for 1891-1898, on page 415.

Joe O'Daniel married secondly to Lillie Miles in Marion County, Kentucky on February 23, 1909. This marriage license is on file in the County Clerk's Office in Lebanon, Kentucky in the Colored Marriage Book for 1906-1914 on page 111.

The Kentucky Death Index, 1911-2000, from the Ky Department for Libraries and Archives says that Joe O'Daniel, age 101 years, died in Marion County, Kentucky on Feb. 19, 1960 and that his death certificate # was #3775.

Joe is listed as a colored man on his death certificate. He has no tombstone in this cemetery.

Joe O'Daniel, a retired laborer who reportedly was 102 years old, died at 6 a.m. last Friday at his home on North Forest Street, at the L. & N. Railroad. He had been ill only a few days.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie B. O'Daniel; three daughters Mrs. Dorothy Young, Marion County; Mrs. John William Swan, Washington County, and Mrs. Gertrude O. Hagan, Chicago; and Tom O'Daniel, Pittsburg; three brothers Aloysius and George O'Daniel, Marion County; and Will O'Daniel, Indianapolis; a sister Mrs. Agnes Barnes, New York City, and two stepsons, George F. and Earl W. Mattingly, Marion County.

The body was at Bosley Funeral Home until 10:30 a.m. Monday when funeral services were conducted at St. Monica Church by Msgr. Joseph D. Gettlefinger. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Hayden, Charles Buckler, Robert Hagan, Sam O'Daniel, James Porter and Cooper Shockency.
