Janesville - Miss Elizabeth J. "Betty Jean" Dobson, age 80, a lifelong Janesville resident, passed away on Sat. morning, April 6, 2002, at Alden Meadow Care Center, Clinton, whee she had resided the past several months. She was born on April 3, 1922, in Janesville, the daughter of the late Rollo A. and Wilna (Bourbeau) Dobson. She was a graduate of Janesville High School, Class of 1940. Betty Jean entered the service of her country during Work War II, serving in the US Army WAC unit in Europe. After her discharge, she returned home to Janesville, and worked as an Office Worker for the Parker Pen Co. for many years, until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Cargill United Methodist Church. During her retirement years, she enjoyed gardening, sports and spending time with her friends and her beloved cat, Annie.

Betty Jean is survived by her sister, Jerry McCarthy of Overland Park, KS; her nieces and nephews: Maureen (Bill) Snell of Witchita, KS, Tom (Michelle) McCarthy of Leawood, KS, Pat (Diane) McCarthy of Overland Park, KS, and Shellie (Ron) Watson of Kansas City, MO; her great-nieces and nephews, and many friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Maurice J. McCarthy.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Fri., April 12, 2002, at the Whitcomb-Lynch-Overton Funeral Home, 15 N. Jackson St., with Rev. j.D. McCarty officiating. Burial will take place in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may calll on Friday afternoon from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. at the Whitcomb-Lynch-Overton Funeral Home.
