Mr. Brown was a resident of Bay City since 1920. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army, and was a member of the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department for 42 years.
Mr. Brown served as an ambulance driver and funeral home assistant with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home during the late 1940's and early 1950's, then he served as manager of the Taylor Bros. Used Furniture Store. After that he worked for many years at Taylor Steves Furniture Store.
Survivors include: his son and daughter-in-law, Garey G. and Jane Brown of Pearland; and one granddaughter, Angela Renee Brown of Pearland.
He was preceded in death by his wife Florence Mae Brown; sister, Flora Belle Smith; and brothers, Charles, Allen, Henry, and William E. Jr. Brown.
Funeral service was held 2 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2004, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating.
Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of Philip H. Parker VFW Post No. 2438.
Pallbearers were Jeff Elliott, Doug Huebner, Howard Carroll, Jim Hendrickson, Taylor Steves, and Kyle Lackey.
Arrangements were with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
