Anna Carolina (Wickland) Bylund was born in the village of Overvike, Vasternorrland, Sweden on January 15, 1856 the daughter of Eric and Lisa (Andersdotter) Wiklund. Anna was confirmed in the Lutheran church of Sweden at a very early age and grew up in the small farming community. She was married to Jonas Ersson Bylund on February 6, 1880 in the Arnäs Parish Church. To this union there were seven children; Anton, Axel, Agda, Anna, Johan, Herbert and Erland Bylund. She was left a widow by the death of her husband, Jonas Bylund suddenly in 1895. Anna along with her two sons Herbert and Earl came to America aboard the SS. Celtic into Ellis Island in 1903 locating in Painesville, Ohio next to her bothers. In 1906, they moved to the Viola community which has since been their home. She lived her entire life on the farm and was a cook at the Pingrey Ranch. She suffered a stroke and died at the home of her son Herbert near Viola Center on February 8, 1943 at the age of 87 years and 24 days. Funeral services were held at the Coon Rapids Methodist Church with burial in the Orange Township Cemetery. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Agda Freeman, her two sons Herbert and Earl Bylund; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Her husband Jonas, son Anton, and daughter Anna, died and were buried in Sweden. A son Axel Bylund died here in Coon Rapids 13 years ago.
