Mrs. Arvilla Jean Augustus Beard, of Union township, passed away at the Chillicothe Hospital at 3 p.m. Thursday, following an illness of four weeks, due to a broken hip. She was born inn Ross county on December 9, 1844, the daughter of Springer and Lucretia J. Jenkins Augustus, and was member of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Beard was the widow of Daniel M. Beard. Six children, Mrs Clara Bowdle, William E Beard, Eddie Beard, Ellie Beard and Robert Beard, all at home and Harry Beard of Chicago; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, survive.
