Funeral services are being arranged today for George Louis Mullings, 26, and his daughter, Lola Marie, 2 1/2, of Alamosa, who lost their lives Thursday in a truck accident near Pueblo. Mrs. Mullings was critically injured in the same accident, and is a patient at St. Mary Hospital, Pueblo. The family made their home at 312 Ninth Street.
The tragedy occurred on Highway 96, five miles west of Pueblo, at 4pm. Mr. Mullings was employed as an oil transport driver for the Orential Refinery. He was crushed to death and his baby daughter was drowned in oil after the truck went out of control on a curve and turned over in a shallow pit at the side of the road.
Young Mullings was born in Alamosa, Jun 21, 1926, and was reared here. He was a veteran of WWII, and a former member of Dickey-Springer Post No. 113 of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, the former Viola Puliciani; a daughter Diana, 7; his father, Louis G Mullins; two sisters, Mrs. Verna Martin, and Mrs. Ellen Shezze; and other relatives.
Lola Marie was born in Alamosa. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Viola Mullins, and her sister, Diana, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Pulciani, and other relatives.
