Fontana, KS TJ Allen, Jr., age 79, of rural Fontana, Kansas, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at North Point Skilled Nursing, Paola, Kansas. TJ, also known as "Jay", was born May 4, 1933 at Richards, Missouri. He was the second of seven children born to John Thomas and Ruth Juanita (Norris) Allen. He grew up in Richards, Missouri and graduated from high school there in 1951.

Jay and Carol Joyce Winter were united in marriage on May 11, 1954 at Fort Scott, Kansas. Jay and Carol became the parents of five children. They moved to Fontana, Kansas in the mid 1960's. Carol preceded Jay in death on March 30, 1987. Jay continued living on his rural Fontana farm where he found joy and comfort in the country life.

Jay had served his country with the United States Air Force in the mid 1950's. He served a four year enlistment and was honorably discharged.
Jay worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital from 1969 until he retired in 1993. He was an electrician and had held the title of foreman/supervisor. He was also an avid livestock producer at this time raising many 4-H championship animals with his sons.

After retirement, Jay focused on raising registered Red Angus cattle. He produced many fine woodworking projects for his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren pulling garden tractors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol, his sister Patsy Nichols, two brothers Teddy and Freddie, his son Scott who died a year ago Sept. 5, 2011, and one great grandson Michael Allen who died May 1, 2009.

He is survived by his children and their spouses Mark and Chili Allen of rural Fontana, Brenda and Phil Mosley of Paola, Connie and Robert Abel, Jr. of Winchester, Kansas, and John Allen of Paola, Kansas; his daughter-in-law Joyce Allen of rural Paola; his siblings Larry Allen of Fort Scott, Kansas, Ricky Allen of Frontenac, Kansas, and Johnna Fowler of Fort Scott, Kansas; 14 grandchildren Garrett Allen, Jake Allen, Travis (Amy) Allen, Tara Allen, Shea Mosley, Chad Mosley, Mitch Mosley, Jared Abel, Brandon (Chantel) Abel, Kristin (Garrett) McMillan, Jaden Allen, Breahna Allen, Alysa Allen, and Tyce Allen; 3 great grandchildren Grant McMillan, Lane Allen, and Daxin Allen; many other relatives and friends.

Memorials are to the Fontana Church of Christ or Miami County Cancer Foundation.
