Mr. Dawson practiced law in Baton Rouge for 45 years. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from Tulane Law School. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home chapel, 825 Government St., Wednesday, May 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Matthew Lorrain officiating. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Renee Lynn Day Dawson. Survivors include his son, David L. Dawson III; daughters, Sean Dawson and partner Sarah, and Erin Meyers and husband Jeff; four grandchildren, William, Renee and Trevor Meyers and Jacquelyn Dawson; and two sisters, Shirley and Wynona.
