Born in Milwaukee, Wis., to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence A. Christensen, she attended the Milwaukee Lake School, the Milwaukee Downer Seminary and subsequently graduated from Finch Junior College in New York City in fashion design, and then in later years from Cardinal Strich College in Milwaukee with a degree in fine arts.
She is survived by her husband, Edmund B. Fitzgerald, whom she married in 1947; her four children, Karen F. (Carl) Lindsay, Denver, Kathleen (Peter) Picoli, Long Island, N.Y., E. Greer (Pamela) Fitzgerald, Ironwood, Mich., and Rogers C. (Karen) Fitzgerald, of Sydney, Australia. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren; and her sister, Eugenie Ebert, and brother, Thor Christensen (Joni), both of Milwaukee.
She was a lifelong member of the Junior League, a board member of the Nashville Ballet, a member of the Nashville Opera Guild, and was an active volunteer at Traveller's Rest, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Centennial Club, Brook Meade Garden Club and the Frist Center for Visual Arts. She was also president of the Milwaukee Planned Parenthood Board and a member of the Milwaukee Family Services.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church of Nashville, 4715 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205, prior to funeral services that will also be held at St. George's Episcopal Church of Nashville at 11 a.m.
Burial shall be in the Fitzgerald family plot in the Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee.
