Jerry Paul "Paw Paw" Latham, 73, of Galveston, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in Galveston after a brief battle with CIDP.

Jerry was born July 30, 1937, in Atlanta, Texas, to Hiram Fleetwood and Clara Lee Latham. Although born an only child, Jerry grew up in East Texas with a large, extended, loving family. He met the love of his life, Joyce Ann, and they were married for over 43 years. After losing their home to Hurricane Ike, Jerry and Joyce never got to return to the island together. Anyone who knew Jerry knew that Joyce was his soul mate, and when she passed away in May 2009, she took a large piece of Jerry with her.

Jerry proudly served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1958. He worked for the City of Galveston for 38 years and retired as the Superintendent of the Street Department in July 2000. Jerry enjoyed traveling with Joyce on spur-of-the-moment trips, planting his garden, cooking for family and spending time with his grandchildren and grand-dogs.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joyce Ann LeBlanc Latham.
...
As per Jerry's wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be placed with his loving wife at a later date in Abbeville, Louisiana.
