Lt. Hamrick was a fighter pilot with 366th Fighter Squadron, 358th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force. He was killed in action on 2 March 1945, when his P-47 was shot down while strafing a German train near Dahn, Germany. His brother, Charles, was also killed in World War II as a navagator in the 100th Bomb Group.
