LONG ILLNESS PROVES FATAL
Death came early yesterday evening to a well known Jefferson county farm woman.
She is Mrs. Gaylord Russell, 47, who passed away at 5:45 p.m. at her farm home 5 1/2 miles north-west of Fairfield. She had been in failing health for the past year.
The last rites will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Minnie Elizabeth Russell was born December 29, 1904, in Jefferson county, Iowa, the daughter of the late William and Ellen Johnson Freeberg.
She was united in marriage to Gaylord Russell on August 6, 1924 at Fairfield. After their marriage the couple moved to Burlington where they made their home for over 22 years, or until March 1946, when the returned to Jefferson county and the farm home the family now occupies.
Mrs. Russell was a member of the Nazarene church at Burlington and had been employed at the Fairfield Glove company for about three years until she was forced to quit her work because of her ill health.
She is survived by her husband and the following children; William S. Russell, Ottumwa; Esther and James, both at home. She is also survived by three grandchildren and the following brothers and sister; Clarence Freeberg, Esther E. Morgan and Elmer Freeberg, all of Portland, Ore.
