ULYSSES KENT BARTLETT
1928--2012

Ulysses "Kent" Bartlett, 84, of Panama City, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Covenant Hospice at Bay Medical. Kent was born in Cullman, AL, and had lived in Panama City most of his life. He served as a sergeant in the US Army after WWII during the occupation of Japan. After his military years, Kent graduated from St. Bernard Junior College, and earned a Bachelor's degree from Auburn University. He worked 31 years as a mechanical engineer in Civil Service for the Navy Lab. Kent and his wife of 63 years, Jean were charter members of Messiah Lutheran Church, and later were members of Trinity Lutheran. They were active square dancers, and taught hundreds of children to enjoy square dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Hosea M. Bartlett, Jr.

Survivors include his beloved wife Jean of Panama City, and his nieces and nephews, Sandra Bartlett Scott and husband Larry, James Richard Bartlett and wife Sandy, and Hosea M. Bartlett, III and wife Patsy, all of Athens, AL.

A funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Danny Koyn officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, September 25, 2012, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kent's name may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Covenant Hospice at Bay Medical, or to a favorite charity.
