William Winder Blakely (Wynder per Death Certificate) was the son of William Simpson and Jane Taylor Blakely. He married twice. His first wife was Mary Ann Hipp, the daughter of Claiborne and Nancy Todd Hipp. They were the parents of five children:

Minnie M. Blakely
Edgar R Blakely
Martha A. Blakely
Nancy Jane Blakely

Mrs. Mary Ann Blakely died in 1886. Her widower then married her first cousin, Margaret Elizabeth Ann Hipp, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Boyd Hipp, and added to the family:

James Martin Blakely
Charley Atwood Blakely
Mary Grace Blakely

Descendants of Mr. Blakely are eligible to join the DAR / SAR via the Blakely line. Mr. Blakely's great grandfather and namesake, William Blakely, and his great, great grandfather, John Blakely, were Patriots. The Daughters of the American Revolution designated them DAR Ancestor Numbers A011048 and A011036, respectively.
