Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Tuesday November 9, 2004 with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm Wednesday November 10, 2004 at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
Deann Lynn Schmidt, daughter of Leeland and Mosella (Cross) Boettcher, was born on October 29, 1953 in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up and received her education there, graduating from Washington High School. She attended cosmetology school in Sioux Falls, graduating and receiving her beautician license. She then began working for the local beauty lounge.
Deann was united in marriage with Larry Schmidt on February 9, 1974 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple moved to South Sioux City, NE where she worked at a beauty parlor and continued to raise a family. Deann began working at James Drug and continued to do so after the family moved to Dakota City. In 1987 they moved back to Sioux Falls where she worked at Austad's for 4 years before beginning a career with Citibank in 1991 where she remained until present.
A caring person, Deann loved children and would often donate her art to raise money for the Children's Care Hospital. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and had a passion for many types of crafts including ceramics, cross-stitching, stamping, and Rakuing. Deann was a helping, down to earth woman who loved to spoil her children and grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Larry Schmidt, Sioux Falls, SD; a son, Jerrid Schmidt, Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter, Aimee Rasmussen, her husband Elijah, and their children, Quinn, Makayla, and one yet to arrive; Sioux Falls, SD; her mother, Mosella Boettcher, Sioux Falls, SD; 2 brothers, Ray Boettcher and his wife, Sharon, Fremont, NE, Darrell Boettcher and his wife, Janet L., Brandon, SD; a sister Janet E. Boettcher, Sioux Falls, SD; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Deann was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelli Schmidt; and her father, Leeland Boettcher.
