Mr. Abeyta, of Blytheville, Ark., was born in Las Vegas, Nev., and moved to Phoenix during his senior year of high school at Phoenix Union. He joined the Air Force in 1962, achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant and received several military awards.
He is survived by his wife, Christina; children, Amanda, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Abel Jr.; parents, Florintino and Martina Vasquez; and two sisters.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden, Scottsdale. Mass will be 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Daniel's Catholic Church, Scottsdale.
