His second marriage was to Elizabeth L Allen on 29 Dec 1851 in Fayette Co, GA. They were the parents of Allie Frances Sims Creel, John Wesley Sims, Archibald Jackson Sims, Martha Jane Sims Bobo, Mary Lou Sims Townsend, and Robert Lee Sims. On May 1864, Matthew H Sims enlisted in the Confederate Army in Atlanta GA showing he was a farmer and a redient of Putnam Co GA. Age 48, height 5ft 9in, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair. He was a private in Co I, 2nd Reg't, GA Reserves. Records of Jan & Feb 1865 show him as 4th Corp, Co I, Jonesboro GA.
