Mr. Guy Hilton James, of Jackson, GA, died Monday, December 26, 2011. He was born April 6, 1933 in Jackson, GA to the late Roy and Bertha Pirkle James. He retired from the US Army in 1974, served 2 tours in Viet Nam, recieved a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Viet Nam Cross of Galantry. Guy enjoyed golf, correcting his children and grandchildren, fishing, football, and spending time with his family.
Guy is survived by his daughter, Nancy Friedman, of Newnan; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Faith James, of Barnsville, Greg James, of Newnan, Mike and Sandy James, of Griffin, Keith James, of Lawrenceville; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Tom Stamps, of Chattanooga, TN; 2 brothers and sister-in-law, Tommy and Mary James, of Perry, Jessie James, of Griffin; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a great-great-granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne James, and brother, Jackie James.
Funeral services for Guy James will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Willie Mashack officiating. Interment will be at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
