Roy Garner Of Fort Wayne formerly of Mt. Morris, age 88, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Center. Roys family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Sunday, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. A private burial with Graveside Military Honors, conducted by Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post 4087 will take place at Flint Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the National Parkinson Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Roy was born May 15, 1922 in Parma, Missouri the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer and Lucy (Berry) Garner. He and Peggy Bundy were united in marriage January 29, 1953 in Indiana. Roy worked for Buick for 30 years, before retiring in 1974, and was a member of UAW Local #599. Roy proudly served in the United States Army during WWII for 2 years receiving his Honorable Discharge. Roy was a family man, self taught musician, liked attending church, helping others, riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles, hunting and fishing. Roy leaves to cherish his memory four children; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters; Roy was preceded in death by his parents, wife Peggy and two sisters; Lottie and Tootie.
