LAKE CITY -- Annie Belle Flowers Askins, 94, widow of H. Raymond Askins, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in Bethea Baptist Home after an illness.
Mrs. Askins was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late William M. and Martha Matthews Flowers. She was a graduate of Limestone College and retired from Tans Bay School as a teacher. Mrs. Askins was a member of Lake City First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Royal Ambassador Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother.

Surviving are three sons, Harry (Sharon) Askins, Talmage (Debbie) Askins and Tommy Askins, all of Lake City; and four grandchildren, Elliott Askins of Kingstree, William Askins of Lake City, Virginia Askins and Tal Askins, both of Charleston.

Mrs. Askins was predeceased by six sisters, Ruth Catrina Flowers Phipps, Dora E. Flowers, Exie Kate Flowers Johnson, Lizzie Viola Flowers Floyd, Kizzie Dell Flowers Floyd and Connie Maxwell Flowers Matthews; and six brothers, Rossie Avender Flowers, Archie Henry Flowers, Valdo Legette Flowers, Wiley W. Flowers, Foster Lamar Flowers and Harry Henderson Flowers.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
