Raymond John Balulis, 60, of Columbia, passed away Monday.
Born in Pottsville, Nov. 5, 1949, he was a son of Antoinette Melusky Balulis and the late Alphonse Balulis.
Raymond served in the Air Force in Panama. He moved to Columbia in 1977 and worked at Boone Hospital Center for more than 30 years. He enjoyed boating on the Missouri River and at the Lake of the Ozarks. He loved being outdoors and exploring nature.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother; a companion, Mary Grotewiel, Columbia; a son, Ian Balulis, Texas; a daughter, Tori Martin and husband, Curt, Sturgeon; a brother, Anthony Balulis and wife, Nemira, Lititz; three sisters, Frances Mitchell and husband, Nicholas, Smithville, N.J., Mary Hardvall and husband, Jerry, Tryon, N.C., and Rosanne McAuley, Rock Hill, S.C.; one grandson, Dylan Balulis; two nieces.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Parker Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Parker Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Raymond was born Nov. 5, 1949 in Pottsville, Pa., to Alphonse and Antoinette Melusky Balulis. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Panama. Raymond moved to Columbia in 1977 and worked at Boone Hospital Center for more than 30 years. He enjoyed boating on the Missouri River and at the Lake of the Ozarks.
